Letter from the President

Happy New Year! As the president of the Florida Art therapy Association I have tried to uphold my commitment to providing you with continuing education opportunities, updating the scrapbooks and having an ongoing rapport with you the members and the community that welcomes art therapy. Thus far, I have worked with a team of professionals that have brought the Florida Art Therapy opportunities alive. We have had conferences at the Hard Rock in Hollywood, UCF in Sarasota, and on the Royal Carribean Cruise. They have all been successful and most importantly a lot of fun. We are currently planning for the art exhibit on April 10, 2008 in the capitol building in Tallahassee, a early 2009 conference in Fort Lauderdale and then 2010 conference in Orlando. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to make history at our capitol. Please contact Craig (FATA webpage) if you are interested in car pooling with us and participating in this event.

As for our updated webpage. Please welcome Sonia Thomas who is
fairly new to Florida and who has offered to help with our webpage.
Please keep in practice to visit monthly for updates and events.

We are planning to put up regional listings for art therapy services. As
the president I receive many requests for art therapy services. If you want your name and e-mail or work phone number to be listed please e-mail Merrilee - membership at www.floridaarttherapy.org. This way
people can e-mail you directly for services.

As for membership, please welcome Merrilee Jorn a recent graduate of
FSU and a motivated individual. She has agreed to help keep our
membership up to date. As you may know, AATA has a one time a year
membership due in January which has helped to keep track of the
members. However, throughout the year we send out e-mails and attempt phone calls to the members and we find your contacts have changed.

Please e-mail us when your address, phone number or e-mail changes so
that we can keep in touch.

We are looking for you:
1. Send – e-mail photos of images you created for the webpage.
2. To work on the newsletter. 4 issues a year. Easy task.

Please contact myself at the webpage if you can help with the above.
Thank you for being a supporter of FATA and I look forward to seeing you throughout the year.
